A short comedy set in modern Ireland that follows the attempts of a pious doctor to uncover his wife’s suspected affair, but instead is confronted by the rigidity of his religion, the boundaries of his love for his daughter, and his obligation to resuscitate her lover’s husband
More Than God was completed in August 2015. It comes out of a changing Ireland in a changing world. The recent gay marriage referendum in Ireland followed by the long awaited Supreme Court ruling in the United States has finally brought a marginalised group of our society a step closer to being equal citizens in the eyes of the law. Our film set out to show a family in the middle of that struggle. Some people would say that struggle is far too severe a word given that the lgbtq community is already widely accepted in society. A struggle against equality not against not against overt discrimination can be more difficult to overcome. It is for this reason that we try to convey the change of society in a more discrete way. We did not want to force a message upon anyone. We wanted to have a bit of fun.
We set out to show very normal universally recognisable characters in a bizarre situation which ultimately reminds them how their humanity is linked to everyone through the family, friends and strangers who are standing beside them.

This forced him into working in films and Visual Effects. He has worked on large budget productions like Total Recall, Thor, Game of Thrones, Jupiter Ascending, Alice in Wonderland. In this time he has learned a huge amount about film making and the production process – oh and a few things about visual effects! Kev is currently a VFX supervisor on season 2 of Penny Dreadful. More Than God is Kev’s debut drama piece as a writer/director.
Through his family Oliver has been on and around film sets from a very young age. It was therefore an obvious choice to begin work in the camera department as soon as he finished school. Since then he has steadily moved his way up through the ranks. He has learned from the biggest and brightest on big independent films like “The King’s Speech” and major studio productions like “Harry Potter” and “The Dark Knight Rises” along the way. More recently he has worked as a lead camera operator on HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and US drama series “24”. He was the director of photography on the short film “Dubois” shot on location in Trinidad. “Dubois” is currently debuting through the festival circuit worldwide.
Ali is known for being talkative, that’s if you can hear her over her hair. Straight out of the womb she was off to the theatre, hell bent on keeping her After a brief dalliance with acting in her teens, Ali started as a casting assistant at the tender and awkward age of 17, a love affair with the craft was born and from that, the rebellious child that is AC Casting sprung forth in 2002. Carving out a niche in commercial casting, she went on to dive headlong into drama projects too. In her spare time she tells great jokes badly, sails the seas and adores nothing more than catapulting herself to the farthest flung corners of the globe.
Sorcha has been working in production for 5 years. In that time she has been the production coordinator on various projects from corporate to commercial, TV shows and films. In the last year she has started working as a production manager. Her most recent project was production managing an Irish Film Board feature film, You’re Too Ugly, starring Aiden Gillen and Lauren Kinsella.
Sorcha has recently succumbed to a strange passion of hers – accountancy! She is unashamedly following this dream and is currently studying accountancy part time. The rest of the slackers, I mean team, are very supportive of Sorcha’s pursuits in this direction.
Katy Moylan for Ali Coffey Casting
Katy (or Dedikaty as she is known in the office) joined as Ali’s nimble right hand in 2009 and now is our prized Casting Associate. She’s proud of her roots having recently had her colour refreshed and also her Corkonian heritage. Whilst Ali has always had a personal aversion to formal education she is damn proud of Katy who is a Masters Graduate from Trinity College Dublin and Royal Holloway University of London. Katy’s superpower is recognising any actor any time anywhere no matter how out of context or heavy the blindfold – it really is extraordinary and on that basis we’re happy to say she’s sticking around.
